Update On Our Friend

I reposted my original post just before this one for background info in case you're interested.

It seems that our friend is beyond help and can't be saved despite every attempt for the last 2 months. He underwent surgery to remove the gangrene in his foot. When that didn't subside he underwent yet another surgery to further remove the infection to no avail. While in the hospital trying to recover from that, it was confirmed that he was infected with MRSA which just exacerbated the situation and defeated any hope of recovery. He was moved from Taos, NM to Denver, CO early November and has been there since.

The latest news we had gotten was that he was delirious and constantly irate, not comprehending what was going on anymore. His brother was notified a couple of days ago that the doctors have done all they can and the infection has spread to his marrow and brain. He is under sedation 24 hours a day. It's now just a matter of time...

Brian is, of course, grieving since this was one of his best friends. We're not sure what's going to happen when he passes. He and his brother are estranged and we're sure that the brother that lives here won't care much one way or another - very sad, but true - no exaggeration that he will most likely be relieved. He has some extended family but not sure how close he was to them...

Anyway, please pray for this whole situation. He deserves to be laid to rest with respect. I'm not sure what role we will play in that but nonetheless we will be there whenever and wherever.
